About Julia

Julia commenced her career as a physiotherapist developing a particular interest in the area of the management of occupational health and workplace injuries. Within her private practice she worked with local industry and organizations to assist them in the prevention and management of workplace injuries. During this stage of her career Julia was active within the Australian Physiotherapy Association. Over this period she became State President of the Association and was also appointed to the APA National Advisory Council. In addition she was appointed to the Physiotherapist Registration Board as member and then Chair.

Subsequently Julia became an injury management advisor for a large national corporation and a rehabilitation provider. Within this role, working with both large and small employers, she assisted workers and employers together with their medical practitioners, optimize the outcome for workers and the workplace, following injury.

Recognizing the impact conflict had on the physical aspects of a person’s injury and general wellbeing, she became interested in alternative ways to assist in workplace disputes and returning injured workers to work. Subsequently she undertook further education to become an Arbitrator and Mediator forming GetYes Solutions with Andrew in 2002. Although GetYes Solutions specializes in the resolution of conflict through mediation and arbitration, the Directors recognize that most people are not confident in this area so believe that equipping and supporting organizations, managers and individuals to better understand conflict is a more successful long term approach. GetYes continues to be respected in the field of team work and workplace injury management having been invited to present at an international conference in 2004.

As a Director of GetYes Solutions Julia’s other major focus is the delivery of effective and useful learning experiences. As a qualified trainer and assessor she facilitates various workshops related to conflict, communication and has recently developed and currently presents Injury Management Coordinator training in conjunction with the Tasmanian Skills Institute.
